HERBIE
1973 HEIDELBERG T PLATEN

Herbie is our most recent addition and he is just a baby having been built in 1973 - one of the last ever letterpress printing presses built. Weighing in a 1200 kilos, he is a monster of beautiful old machine.

Heidelberg T Platens are german engineered and are otherwise known as Windmills - This is due to the two arms which rotate around the press just as a windmill does. Herbie is motor operated, and is far more mechanical then our beloved Charlie. We use him for larger print runs and more commercial work, and on those days when Charlie is feeling a little off.

Herbie has many knobs, levers and bits to pull and tug. He also has a beautiful buzz and makes some gorgeous whoosing noises - we never tire of listening to his song.

Both of our presses have been salvaged, restored and bought back to life once again.
